Other Type of Refractive Surgery

PRK
For patients with thin corneas, large pupils, or those who do boxing, Photorefractive Keratectomy (PRK) has proven very effective. During PRK an excimer laser is used directly on the surface of the eye.

LASEK
Laser Epithelial Keratomileusis (LASEK) is an effective procedure for patients who have thin or flat corneas. In LASEK diluted alcohol is used to lift the cornea s outer layer and an excimer laser is used to remove the tissue of the cornea.

Phakic IOL
Phakic Intraocular Lenses (Phakic IOL) are inserted under the surface of the eye. The Phakic IOL implant serves as an internal contact lens. The procedure is effective for nearsighted and farsighted patients.

ICRS
In the procedure used to insert Intrastromal Corneal Ring Segments (ICRS) two slim half rings are inserted around the edges of the cornea. These implants adjust the vision of myopia patients by flattening the curvature of the cornea.
